Local Government Pay
Developing the pay claim
UNISON Scotland's Local Government Conference is responsible for
developing UNISON's local government pay strategy in Scotland.
Representatives of all Local Government branches attend the Scottish
Local Government Conference and, after consulltation with the
wider membership, agree the terms of the pay claim from a UNISON
perspective.
Our negotiators then consult with the other Local Government
trade unions (GMB and Unite) and agree a joint negotiating position.
The agreed pay claim is then put to the Scottish Joint Council,
which is made up of representatives from the three trade unions
and CoSLA and negotiations begin.
The progress of these negotiations is reported back to branches
and to the Local Government Conference. This forum is key to representing
the views of the wider membership and deciding on action in support
of the pay claims.
The branch delegates to the Scottish Local Government
Conference for 2009/10 are: Bob Revie, who is also Vice-Chair
of the Scottish Local Government Committee and one of the union's
lead negotiators; Kate Ramsden; Ian McDonald; Inez Teece, Tricia
Morrison and Shona Riddell.
